Southern Africa has one of the longest and richest rock-art traditions in the world. The uKhahlamba Drakensberg region of KwaZulu-Natal is abundant in rock art left behind by the San people. The San, or Bushmen, are among the oldest people in the world. |



Nation, is home to 11 indigenous cultures; the most noted are the Afrikaans/Cape Dutch/Boers, British, Ndebele, San, Xhosa and Zulu. Our rainbow culture course explores the history of the relationship between the arrival of European influences, the migration of Black continental cultural groups and the near extinction of the indigenous peoples. We also explore the history of race relations and the present day successes and cultural issues of the New South Africa. |
Course 1 (12-days 3 credits) takes place in the Western and Eastern Cape Region. Starting in Cape Town (discover the flora of Table Mountain & then and ending in the Tsitsikamma National Forest. Course 2 (17-days 4 credits) also starts in Cape Town and includes the Tsitsikamma National Forest but ends in the Drakensberg Mountains region. Course 1(14-days 3 credits) Course 2(18-days 4 credits) Our Animal Eco-Education courses are specially designed based on if participants want to study the Big 5 (elephant, lion, cape water buffalo, rhino, leopard) or focus on the African Elephant. Our Elephant program starts out with a trip to the EARS program at WildThings in Salinas California and then to Chobe National Park, Kasane Botswana. the African Elephant, do you know the other 4 of the Big 5 and why they are called the Big 5? Chobe National Park in Kasane, Botswana is home to over 100,000 African Elephants and 4 of the Big Five – sorry no Rhinos here. Our Elephant study program goes to Chobe, however, for sure viewing of all 5 we travel to an animal rehabilitation and nurturing program in the Mpumalangan province of South Africa. |
