Experience Southern Africa for university credit
Since 1997 we have offered internships, volunteer work programs and student visits
    to Southern Africa.

We are now offering university level courses suitable for credit: 12-day 3 credit
    hours, 17-day 4 credit hours and a 20-day 4.5 credit hours.

Courses can be scheduled for any time of year
Select Courses Select courses: Are for professors who want to
add spice to their courses and take their students from within
the traditional 4 wall classroom to the world of wonder! We work
closely with each instructor to custom design the curriculum to fit
what they hope their students will experience. Professors lead
their class assisted by local guides and instructors in the host
country and, if you wish, an Anir specialist can go with you.

Independent Study courses offer students the opportunity to join
other students from various schools from across North America
to study under the tutelage of Anir instructors and guides.

    Southern Africa has one of
    the longest and richest
    rock-art traditions in the
    world. The uKhahlamba
    Drakensberg region of
    KwaZulu-Natal is abundant
in rock art left behind by
the San people. The San, or
    Bushmen, are among the
    oldest people in the world.

    South Africa, the Rainbow
    Nation, is home to 11
    indigenous cultures; the
    most noted are the
    Afrikaans/Cape
    Dutch/Boers, British,
    Ndebele, San, Xhosa and
    Zulu.
    Our rainbow culture
    course explores the
    history of the relationship
    between the arrival of
    European influences, the
    migration of Black
    continental cultural groups
    and the near extinction of
    the indigenous peoples. We
    also explore the history of
    race relations and the
    present day successes and
    cultural issues of the New
    South Africa.

    The counseling psychology
    course includes training in
    constructive listening how
to use our ears - we do not
    have the answers but in
    most cases people in crisis
    just want someone to heal
    through listening. Students
in this area will have an
    opportunity for practical
    involvement.
    Travel to the Eastern Cape
    Region of South Africa to
    the Grahamstown National
    Arts Festival, the biggest
    and most vibrant
    celebration of South
    Africa's rich and multi-

    and more...

    The road to becoming the
    remarkable “Rainbow
    Nation” that it is, was
    fraught 300 years of
    prejudice and degradation;
    but South Africa is now
    not only a model African
nation but a model to the
    world – Black majority
    rule, but with Blacks,
    Whites & Coloureds living
    together jointly fighting
    the new apartheid –
    HIV/AIDS.
The Biggest of the Big 5 is
    the African Elephant, do you
know the other 4 of the Big
5 and why they are called the
    Big 5? Chobe National Park
    in Kasane, Botswana is home
    to over 100,000 African
Elephants and 4 of the Big
Five – sorry no Rhinos here.
    Our Elephant study program
    goes to Chobe, however, for
sure viewing of all 5 we
    travel to an animal
    rehabilitation and nurturing
    program in the Mpumalangan
    province of South Africa.
